History of the department

The Department of Kazakh Philology was established in 1996. Kuandyk Zhusip, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, was Head of the Department from 1997 to 2007. Nartay Zhusupov, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, has been Head of this Department since 2008.

The Department of Philology was formed as a result of the merger in 2020 of two departments - "Kazakh Philology" and "Russian Philology".
