The BSc in 5B080100 Agronomy (full-time and distance learning) (Educational program)

Educational programs: 1. Field cultivation, 2. Fruit and Vegetable Growing

The Bachelor of Science in Agronomy is awarded to students upon successful completion of the 5B080100 Agronomy program. 

Our goal is the preparation of a versatile specialist in Agronomy.

Training is provided on the basis of state educational grants or on the contractual (fee-paying) basis. A flexible system of discounts and benefits is offered as well.

How to apply: graduates of secondary schools are enrolled on the basis of results of UNT or the complex testing; elective subject of testing should be biology. Duration of study: full-time – 4 years. 

- Graduates of secondary vocational educational institutions (colleges) are eligible to apply only if they have a qualification in a relevant area. Duration of study: full-time and distance training for at least 3 years.

- Graduates of higher educational institutions are also eligible to apply for the academic programs. Duration of study: not less than 3 years.

Testing is conducted in 4 subjects:

- the Kazakh or Russian language;

- History of Kazakhstan;

- Mathematics;

- Biology;

- General Agronomy.

Male applicants who are successfully enrolled in the programs receive a postponement of military service.

Students enrolled in the 5B080100 Agronomy program are going to complete practical training leading to thorough understanding of:

- organizational and managerial activities related to the organization of production processes in agriculture as well as the management of these processes;

- production and technological activities related to the cultivation of crops by means of intensive or resource-saving technology and the organization of labor in plant growing and other agricultural work;

- financial and economic activities; financial and labor calculation related to crop production;

- consulting activities related to carrying out agricultural record-keeping and consultation with specialists and workers engaged in crop production.

Fields of activities carried out by Bachelors of Agronomy are diverse and specific.

Their tasks are: reproduction and preservation of soil fertility; development and implementation of an integrated plant protection system from pests; development of the structure of cultivated areas and crop rotation schemes with regard to the conditions of given farms; introduction of energy and labor-saving methods of soil treatment into agricultural production; integrated agrotechnical maintenance of farms’ fields with due regard to agrolandscapes; the usage of modern progressive technologies of agricultural crops cultivation.

The Bachelor of Agronomy is not only a technologist of agricultural production, but he or she also has the full knowledge of management, breeding and engineering.

In the cycle of special disciplines students study such subjects as Agrochemistry, Protection of Crops from Pests and Diseases, Botany, Soil Science with the Basics of Geology, Biotechnology of Agricultural Plants, Microbiology, Machine Use in Agriculture, Economics and Management, Crop Production, Agriculture, Forage Production, Breeding and Seed Production of Agricultural Crops, Fruit and Vegetable Growing, Technology of Storage and Processing of Crop Production, etc.

Objects of professional activity carried out by the graduates are the following ones: joint-stock companies, production cooperatives, limited partnerships, farm, individual and collective enterprises, agricultural firms, and other agricultural entities.

Graduates of the 5B080100 Agronomy program can work as field agronomists, crop protection agronomists, agronomists-fruit and vegetable growers, seed-growing agronomists, seed and grain inspectors and other agronomical specialists in various economic entities of the agrarian sector.

 

The 5B080700 Forest Resources and Forestry program (full-time and distance learning) 

Educational Programs: 1. Forest Management 2.Urban Forestry and Landscape Design.

Students are admitted to the 5B080700 Forest Resources and Forestry program. The Bachelor’s degree in Forest Resources and Forestry is awarded to them upon successful completion of the given course.

Our goal is the preparation of a versatile specialist in Forest Management.

How to apply: graduates of secondary schools are enrolled on the basis of results of UNT or the complex testing (as for college graduates). Duration of study: full-time – 4 years. 

- Graduates of secondary vocational educational institutions (colleges) are eligible to apply only if they have a qualification in a relevant area. Duration of study: full-time and distance training for at least 3 years.

- Graduates of higher educational institutions are also eligible to apply for the academic programs. Duration of study: not less than 2 years.

Testing is conducted in 4 subjects:

- the Kazakh or Russian language;

- History of Kazakhstan;

- Mathematics;

- Geography;

- Dendrology.

Students enrolled in the 5B080700 Forest Resources and Forestry are going to complete practical training leading to thorough understanding of:

- modern technologies of woodworking industry and logging operations;

- practical skills in taking care of green plantations of parks, botanical gardens;

- methods of forest resource assessment and forest inventory;

- methods of cultivation of forest vegetation and green areas, methods of parks landscaping on a landscape architectural basis;

- technology of forest fire detection, methods of development of forest protection and biotechnical activities

Fields of activities carried out by Bachelors of Forestry are diverse and specific.

Their tasks are: to solve issues of rational forest management, to apply modern methods of cultivation of forest vegetation and green areas, to organize and carry out works on landscape gardening, to carry out works on forest reclamation and protection, to make a forest and park inventory, to effectively use the logging fund, to monitor compliance rules of cutting and careful use of wood and other products of forest parks, to manage a package of nature protection measures in the system of forestry, and to determine and predict the number of harmful and helpful forest and park organisms.

The Bachelor of Forestry is not only a forest manager, but he or she also has the full knowledge of economics, accounting and agronomy.

In the cycle of special disciplines students study such subjects as Forest Meteorology, Engineering Geodesy and Topographical Drawing, Forest Protection, Forestry, Forest Exploitation with the Basics of Wood Processing, Forest Taxation, Forest Nurseries, Forest Cultures, Forest Management, Economics and Organization of Forestry Production, Mechanization of Forestry Operations, Forest Resources Accounting, Forest Restoration, Dendrology, etc. The classes are delivered by candidates of sciences and leading specialists in forestry agencies of the region.
