The colorful event “AUYZ-TEA” was held at S.Toraighyrov PSU, during which the guests were told about the tea tradition of the Kazakhs.

The event is aimed at strengthening the unity and integrity of the people, respectful attitude to the traditions of other countries, as well as popularization of national traditions and customs among the youth.

While serving the guests with a drink, the students told about the history and peculiarities of the ceremony.

“At the beginning of any holiday feast tea is always served. After tea drinking it is customary to serve meat, and after it - koumiss. Although modern Kazakhs instead of koumiss often serve tea again ... Today, we drink tea exclusively with milk, but this was not always the case. In many ways, the tea traditions of the Kazakhs were influenced by the peoples with whom they lived next door. Thus, the northern Kazakhs for a long time drank tea without milk, borrowing this method from the Russians. And those of the Kazakhs, who lived next to the Turkmen, constantly drank tea, adding butter, salt and milk”, said the chairperson of the student council of the House of Students No. 2, student Aygerim Bokenbay.

Student of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Ansat Tashkenbay in his speech addressed the symbols of the ceremony.

“The tradition of tea drinking took shape in Kazakhstan for a long time. A cup of tea can tell a lot about the attitude to the guest: who serves the tea and how much. For example, a full-brimmed cup means that you are an unwelcome guest. It is customary to pour tea gradually: half or less than half a cup”, said A. Tashkenbay.

When mixing products for tea in Kazakh, their sequence of addition is important. So, for a start milk is poured, then brew, and after - boiling water. It is important to pour the boiling water correctly, keeping the appropriate height between the cup and the kettle.

The event continued with creative student performances.
