Senior lecturer of department of the Kazakh language and journalism of S.Toraighyrov PSU Kymbat Belgibaeva took part in a two-day training seminar «Strengthening the curriculum on gender journalism”.

The project was organized by the UNESCO department in Journalism and Communication of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University to support teachers and mastering skills in the field of gender journalism.

The event brought together scientists from 15 universities in Kazakhstan and provided an opportunity to develop a curriculum based on a new model of teaching journalism from UNESCO.

During the seminar, the participants discussed issues of gender inequality in the media, noting the lack of training for university teachers on this topic.

“In Kazakhstan universities, the discipline “Gender and Media” is practically not studied. Its absence gives rise, for example, to stereotypes about inequality that must be eliminated. In fact, this problem is wider and requires comprehensive study”, Kymbat Belgibaeva says.
