At the initiative of a veteran of journalism, a member of the Council of Journalists of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Journalism of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University Zhenis Issayevich Mananbayev, pen, camera and television-masters visited the University.
A member of the Council of Journalists of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a member of the National Association of Photographic Art of Canada (NAPA – CANADA), a photo-correspondent of the Russian News Agency Photo TASS in Kazakhstan, a news analyst of the Zvezda Priirtyshya oblast newspaper Vladimir Nikolayevich Bugayev came to share his best practices with the University’s students. Vladimir Nikolayevich told about twists and turns of the work of photojournalists, about advantages and disadvantages of the amazing craft in an easily accessible form. Students had a chance to see the photo-master’s best works known by people from all around the world, many of the works were put on display at exhibitions and photo galleries in 17 countries.
A member of the Council of Journalists of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Club of Journalists affiliated with the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, a staff correspondent of the Astana republican TV channel Aleksandr Vervekin was invited, not for the first time, to have a talk with students and give them a master class. According to Aleksandr, a journalist must be well-informed about nearly everything.
“You have to work at different rates in different places and under any conditions you have to be able to find something that will reveal insights into a situation,” said Aleksandr.
Also, Pavlodar oblast staff correspondents of the 24 KZ channel, Yerbol Abishev and Karlygash Kassiyetova conducted demonstration lessons for the Department’s students. Yerbol, who holds a Biology degree, has been working as a journalist for twenty years. Having started his career as a camera operator, he today works as a TV correspondent. Yerbol shared his recollections about the difficulties and highlights of his life and correspondent’s work. “I feel proud when the work done is not for nothing. I cheer when my reports help people solve their vitally important problems. This is a great award for a journalist,” said Yerbol.
An experienced TV journalist Karlygash Kassiyetova told about the work of the correspondent station of a leading TV channel of the republic, methods of working, the editorial’s structure and work process organization. Students of the Kazakh department, having talked with Karlygash, expressed their willingness to practice in the correspondent station and asked to look into the possibility of going on work trips with her in order to feel the atmosphere of the correspondent’s work.
The master class was given by a veteran of journalism, Honorary Journalist of Kazakhstan, the founder and director of a TV studio “Alta-TV”, the author of a number of books, an experienced documentary film maker Anatoly Konstantinovich Chernyatevich. The master told students about his career and that “being a journalist is sometimes very difficult, but still it is very interesting”.
“Finding common ground with people in absolutely different professions is quite exciting. It is a vitally necessary factor in journalism, especially in television one,” said Anatoly Konstantinovich.
According to Zh. I. Mananbayev, it is important that lessons should be delivered with the participation of professional journalists. “We gain knowledge, accumulate it throughout our professional activity. But a new generation of journalists is coming to the fore. It is essential that we should share our positive experience and pass it along to right hands, so that our children and grandchildren glorify proudly the Kazakhstan’s journalism,” said Zhenis Issayevich.
