The Grappling and gi-Grappling cup of the Republic of Kazakhstan among adults and veterans was finished in Astana. About 600 athletes from all over Kazakhstan took part in the competition.

Participants struggled in two sections - Grappling and gi-Grappling with division into three levels of difficulty.

Diana Shapenova, a student of the Faculty of Public Administration, Business and Law of S.Toraighyrov PSU State University went to defend the honor of Pavlodar region as part of the national team.

On the first day of the competition, in the finals of grappling section in the category up to 58 kg among professionals, Diana Shapenova won the championship belt.

The second day for the athletes was also successful. In the grappling section among professionals, the title of champion was won by the master of sports of international class in jiu-jitsu, the acting coach of PSU and the head coach of the “Bek Team” Academy Zairbek Abylkadyrov in weight up to 84 kg. Diana Shapenova has the third place in weight up to 58 kg.

According to the results of the competitions, the team of Pavlodar took the second team place in the Grappling section and the third team place in the gi-Grappling section.

“This year the Republic Cup was qualifying for the Asia Championship, which gave a very strong competitiveness to this Championship. Now our athletes will be preparing for the camp before the Asia Championships, which will be held in Beijing”, said Z. Abylkadyrov.
