Students and teachers of S.Toraighyrov PSU met with local historian, an honorary citizen of Pavlodar Ernest Sokolkin.

During the meeting was held a review of Ernest Dmitrievich Sokolkin’s book "The streets of our city," which was released in 2007.

Ernest Dmitrievich told about interesting historical facts related to the renaming of the streets of Pavlodar.

"In 1919, the Bolsheviks began to rename all streets with royal titles. Since 1945, were renamed Baizakov and Korolenko streets, in 1956б year of New ground, was massive assignment of names to streets, which were at that time unnamed it is in the village of MRS (machine-road station), at the Second South, the Second Pavlodar. Later, begun to appear the streets with the names of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War ", - says Ernest Sokolkin.

In addition, guests of the meeting were able to learn that one of the main streets of the city - Kutuzov got its name in 1962. This year marked by the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino. The street connects the old and new town. The name was chosen in honor of the Russian commander and Field Marshal Mikhail Illarionovich Kutuzov-Golenishchev.

Librarian of fiction sector Elena Likhanova provided an overview of the books about Pavlodar, which can be used for the preparation of scientific articles, reports and essays.
