Students of the Department of Geography and Tourism of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University won prizes at the International Student Research Projects Competition, which was named after Socrates and held in Astana.

The purpose of the Competition is to develop students' research abilities and increase their interest in the profession.

According to the results of the Competition, undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Department of Geography and Tourism (Aygul Rakisheva from MG-22n and Darya Mulyavka, Altynay Dosmadiyarova and Ayzada Zinegabidenova from G-302) were awarded 3rd degree diplomas.

The scientific supervisor of the project, Candidate of Geographical Sciences, Professor Antonina Tsaregorodtseva, says that, nowadays, recreational evaluation of water bodies, especially freshwater bodies, is of great importance and has never been carried out in our region on a wide-scale basis. “Participation in such competitions helps our students get some practical experience and acquire new theoretical knowledge in their future profession. For example, the executors of this research project carried out a comprehensive evaluation of the tourist attractiveness, recreational load and capacity of the coast of Lake Sabyndykol in Bayanaul National Park,” said Antonina Tsaregorodtseva.

Students from G-301(Sabina Abdrakhmanova, Kuanysh Zhaksalykov and Dias Uraz) received 2nd degree diplomas for their project entitled “New Research Methods in Studying Meteorological Features, with Particular Reference to Pavlodar Region” supervised by Senior Lecturer Shynar Kakezhanova. This project also won the main prize in the Zhas Sarypshy nomination.
