An opening ceremony of the National Scientific and Practical Conference on the People in the Flow of History dedicated to the 110th birthday of Kazakhstan's greatest scientist, world famous researcher, founder of the School of Archaeology of Kazakhstan, Academician, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor A.Kh. Margulan took place in S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University on May 16, 2014.

This Conference has a great educational value for the younger generation, as it instills interest in various branches of science through the exchange of scientific experience and promoting inner spiritual growth of young scientists.

There was a presentation of the book “Alkey Margulan and the Image of the Nation” (kaz. Әлкей Марғұлан және ұлт келбеті) by Amantay Kudabayev, Director of Ye. Bekmakhanov Regional History and Ethnography SPC.

There was also a book exhibition entitled “Alkey Khakanovich Margulan Is an Outstanding Personality of Pavlodar Land”.

Vice-rector for Research and Innovation of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Nurlan Yerzhanov delivered an opening speech. 'For many decades, PSU has been a perfect example of a university with deep spiritual educational traditions, the main center of scientific and creative thought in our region. A rich library, modern media library, scientific-practical centers for the study of the historic heritage of outstanding figures in science and culture of Kazakhstan - these are the resources aimed at achievement of the tasks of patriotic and moral education of students. Thus, the very fact of holding such a large-scale scientific conference devoted to Alkey Margulan in our University shows that his work still lives: we all - the organizers and participants of the Conference - make a contribution in development of many aspects identified in the research works of our distinguished countryman’, said Nurlan Yerzhanov.

The conference was attended by leading scientists, historians and political scientists of the University. Candidate of Historical Sciences from the Institute of the History of the State, Committee of Science (MES), Nikolay Lapin was a guest of honor at the event. He made a repot on the Problem of the Historical Demography of the Kazakhs in Modern History.

Many other members of the University made reports at the plenary session: Director of the Joint Archaeological Research Center named after A.Kh. Margulan, S. Toraighyrov PSU, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Viktor Merts made a report on the Role of A.Kh. Margulan in the Development of Archaeology of Kazakhstan; Head of the Department of History of Kazakhstan of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, Associate Professor Kayrat Battalov (The Personality and Historic Legacy of Alkey Marghulan); member of Mashkhur Studies SPC of S. Toraighyrov PSU Arslan Kopeyev (Mashkhur Zhusip and Alkey Margulan).
