Specialty 5В070100 - «Biotechnology»   (Educational program)

Intake of students is carried out in the specialty 5В070100 «Biotechnology» with awarding of the academic degree «Bachelor of Biotechnology».

Our aim is to train the all-round specialists in Biotechnology.

Training is realized on the basis of state educational grant or contract basis, which provides for discount flex system and benefits for education.

To enter may:

- school-leavers of comprehensive schools by results of United National Testing or  complex testing. Apprenticeship: full-time tuition – 4 years; 

- graduating students of colleges, who have education in the following specification. Appreticeship: full-time and postal tuition, no less than 3 years.

Testing is hold in 4 subjects:

  • Kazakh and Russian languages;
  • History of Kazakhstan;
  • Mathematics;
  • Biology.

The youths who have entered the University get deferment of military service.

Students of specialty 5В070100  «Biotechnology» undergo all types of practical training which let them become proficient in:

  • structural, biochemical, molecular, genetic and physiological bases of vital functions and development of organism;
  • use bases of microorganisms, plants, animals in Biotechnology;
  • bases of production technologies of final products with the use of different biological objects;
  • use means and methods of microorganisms, cells of plants and animals in Biotechnology;
  • use means and methods of biological system and processes in the industrial production of foodstuffs, in the agricultural sector, health service and ecology.

The main tasks are: to solve the production issues of biotechnological products of different purposes and development of new biotechnological processes; getting of alternative energy sources; biotechnology of foodstuffs; synthesis of biologically active substances   and antibiotics; search and creation of biological status indicators of environment; selection of microorganisms, plants, animals; the sphere of education.

Bachelor is not only a production engineer of biotechnological production, but also combines the knowledge of selectionist, biologist, ecologist.

In the cycle of special disciplines the students learn such academic subjects as: Biotechnology of microorganisms, Biotechnology of plants, Biotechnology of animals, Food biotechnology, Medical and veterinary biotechnology, Ecological biotechnology, Bioorganics, General and molecular genetics, Microbiology and virology, Phytophysiology, Human physiology and zoophysiology, Cellularbiotechnology, Bases of biotechnological production, etc.

The main tasks are:

•    to use physical characteristics of foodstuff processing, rheological features of food in its storing;

•     to improve methods of freezing raw materials for increasing of keeping time;

•     to plan food enterprise with a glance of process design, equipment account, etc.

Food technologist is the organizer of food industry combining the knowledge of economist, accountant, and businessman. In the cycle of special disciplines the students learn such academic subjects as: foreign languages, computer science, physics, engineering graphics, inorganic and organic chemistry, microbiology, processes and devices of foodstuffs, food merchandising, General food technology, Equipment of food production, etc.

Graduating students of this specialty have broad possibilities for job placement:

•    Food plants of milk, meat, bakery, wines and liquors, alcohol-free beer industry;

•    Sanitary epidemiological station;

•    Research institute of agricultural and food industry.
