Methodological Activities

In the 2013-2014 academic year, the Department offers 258 disciplines, 114 of them in are taught in the official language and 144 are in Russian.

For these disciplines, the academic staff members of the Department have developed teaching materials including working curricula, syllabi, and methodical recommendations for activities. EMCD analysis showed that the quality of the developed EMCDs meets the requirements of SES of RK. EMCDs have rich content, include methodological developments and recommendations for the types of learning activities of students (lectures, seminars plans, tasks for SIW (student's independent work) and SIWT (student's independent work with a teacher), guidelines for their implementation, information on the distribution of rating points, materials for knowledge control, and lists of the main and additional literature, etc.). SIW and SIWT content meet the principles of practical orientation, the needs and interests of students.

Presence of EMCD for the 1st semester was 97.4%. Presence of EMCD for the 2nd semester is 93.5%.

According to the schedule of open classes held by the academic staff members of the Department, 5 open classes were held in the 2013-2014 academic year:

- senior lecturer A.M. Rakhmetova held a class in Environment and Sustainable Development entitled "Description of the Earth's Natural Resources, Classification of Natural Resources" (November);

- senior lecturer K.I. Akhmetov held a class in Biology of Forest Animals and Birds entitled "Hunting Studies, the State of Forest Hunting Studies in Kazakhstan" (January);

- senior lecturer A.A. Bitkeyeva held a class in the Origin and Evolution of the Biosphere entitled "Provenance of the Earth" (March);

- professor S.M. Zhumadina held a class in Human and Animal Physiology entitled "The Circulatory System" (April).

According to the schedule peer-reviewing of classes held by members of the Department for the 2013-2014 academic year, 29 classes were peer-reviewed, including:

- 14 during the first semester of the 2013-2014 academic year;

- 15 during the second semester of the 2013-2014 academic year;

All classes are held at a sufficiently high methodological level, the content of the topics covered correspond to the sample and work programs. A more detailed analysis is presented in the register of peer-reviewed open classes.

The Department of Biology and Ecology developed a plan of scientific-methodical seminars on the main areas of ecology and biology, considering modern methodological aspects of teaching. During the reporting period, the Department held all planned teaching and research methodological seminars, which addressed issues relating to educational and scientific process and the organization of teaching work.

According to the plan of scientific and methodological seminars, 4 seminars were held in the 2013-2014 academic year by:

1. Associate Professor A.V. Ubaskin "Modern Understanding of Biodiversity and Methods of Study" (February 2014);

2. Associate Professor Yu.M. Kanibolotskaya "Condition of Vegetation in the Suburbs of Pavlodar" (March 2014);

3. Professor Kaman Ulykpan "New Methods of Soil Invertebrates Research" (April 2014);

4. Professor A.B. Kadenova "Flora of Bayanaul State National Park" (May 2014).

The following research projects are performed within the Zhas Ghalym project under the supervision of professors A.B. Kaliyeva and A.T. Toleuzhanova: "Main sources of air pollution in Pavlodar region" and "Psycho-pedagogical features of the cognitive interest development in pupils through the use audio-visual means on the lessons of biology (by the example of pupils from secondary schools 24 and 43 of Pavlodar)".
