Abylkhan Karakayev, a famous scientist and talented teacher, Doctor of Engineering Sciences, Full Member of the International Academy of Informatization, Honoured Worker of Education, Professor of the Department of Transport Equipment and Logistics of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, was awarded the title of an Honoured Inventor of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The ceremony of awarding the winners of the annual Shapaghat National Competition in the Field of Inventive Activities was held in Shabyt Center.

This competition is always timed to coincide with the celebration of World Intellectual Property Day and held in order to enhance inventive activities in the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is also aimed at promoting innovation, encourage people's efforts in economic and social development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Honoured Inventor title is awarded based on the results of the competition among citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan who have made most important and widely used inventions.

The selection criteria include social and economic significance of inventions, their potential, competitiveness, and environmental safety.

The Competition Committee considered 18 applications for the title.

This Competition was first held in 2013 when the title was awarded to 6 candidates. Next year, in 2014, 7 inventors received their well-deserved awards.

Professor Karakayev's brilliant victory at the Innovation Boost national competition of innovative business plans was one of the main events of 2014 for the entire region. This tremendous success is yet another evidence of his intellectual and spiritual power and the courage of his engineering thought.

Abylkhan Karakayev is the author of more than 1,000 scientific, educational and other publications, 3 monographs, and 20 study guides. He has 90 author's certificates and patents of the USSR, RF and RK (25 patents, 16 provisional patents, and 20 innovative patents of the RK).

A. Karakayev was listed in the Golden Book of Honour of the Kazakh SSR for achievements in research and teaching, received a badge of an Honoured Worker of Education of the RK and the Award for Contribution to the Development of Science in the RK. Besides, A. Karakayev was twice elected Researcher of the Year at S. Toraighyrov PSU. In 2007, he won a grant and the title of The Best University Lecturer from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In the same year, he won a grant and received a diploma at the regional competition of innovative projects. Three years later, in 2010, Abylkhan Karakayev was awarded S. Toraighyrov Gold Medal.
