Members of administration and academic staff of S. Toraighyrov PSU held a meeting with prospective students from the cities of Shymkent and Taraz, as well as Lugovoy and Merke villages of Zhambyl region under the Serpin-2050 state program.

The Serpin-2050 program was launched in 2014. Its objective is to compensate the shortage of manpower in certain regions of our country by means of allocating special grants.

S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University joined this program in 2015. The University received over 200 grants for 2015.

The purpose of this program is expansion of educational space with full coverage of the northern and central regions of Kazakhstan. Young people from overpopulated southern regions will have a chance to get high-quality education in one of socially important areas.

A delegation from S. Toraighyrov PSU held meetings with prospective students from the cities of Shymkent, Taraz, as well as Lugovoy and Merke villages of Zhambyl region. PSU was represented by Nurlan Yerzhanov, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Nurgul Smailova, Executive Secretary of the Admissions Board, and Zhanna Temerbayeva, Vice-Dean at the Faculty of Architecture and Construction.

They told future students about the programs offered by the University, its history and achievements, as well as some of the benefits of studying at PSU.

According to N. Smailova, meetings with prospective students from Kyzylorda, South Kazakhstan, Zhambyl and Almaty regions will also take place in the nearest future.

“Serpin-2050 is a new educational program aimed at reducing youth unemployment and compensating staff shortage in certain areas of our Republic. Starting from September, our University will receive students from southern regions. The program covers medical services, travel costs, and provides for subsequent employment of graduates,” says Nurgul Smailova.

Initially this program has been launched for pedagogical programs, but starting from this year it also covers programs in engineering, agriculture and veterinary science.

Students entering PSU under the Serpin program will be provided with accommodation for the entire period of study and get employment assistance upon graduation.
