Madina Dalabayeva, Dana Zhambul, and Zhansaya Zhonkabay, undergraduate students of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, demonstrated great results and won the second prize at the competition which was held at Almaty Technological University.

Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Professor Galiya Kazhibayeva from the Department of Biotechnology was the team supervisor. According to her, it was very difficult for our team to achieve this result. “All of our opponents were good, but our team managed to finish ahead of many favorites of the competition,” she said.

Zhansaya Zhonkabay said that all members of the team representing S. Toraighyrov PSU were united by a common goal. “There was a great desire to win the competition and prove that PSU is the best university. The achieved result gives a reason to hope that next year our University's team will be among the winners again,” says Zh. Zhonkabay.

Members of the Department of Biotechnology always strive for new knowledge and work in the most advanced areas of their science, which leads to the establishment of new research schools working in the field of functional foods, molecular biotechnology, and genetic engineering. According to the Head of the Department Kuralay Isayeva, the Department has all necessary conditions (i.e. the equipment, technology, and personnel) for carrying out activities in these areas at a very high level.

Temirlan Akhmetov, Yergali Buyebayev, Nikita Chaykivskiy, Askhat Tleulenov, and Aiym Temirova, undergraduate students of the Faculty of Business and Law, represented S. He said that the first stage of the competition included writing assignments, while the second stage was held orally: participants of the competition were given specific problems with indication of the personal position (for or against) that each participant was expected to present and defend.

“I would like to express my great gratitude to our lecturers, namely to Vladimir Vyaznyuk and Olga Dubovitskaya, who helped us a lot in our preparation. Owing to them, we had a unique opportunity to test our knowledge while competing with students from other universities. The fact that we did well at this competition really adds confidence for the future,” said Temirlan Akhmetov.
