Students of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University showed a great result at the national competition for HEI students majoring in Design which took place at T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts in Almaty.

PSU undergraduate students Zhamal Kaliyeva and Madina Kaskyrbayeva had an opportunity to demonstrate their ideas in clothes design.

The competition consisted of 2 rounds. The girls made sketches, cut and sewed. The criteria for evaluation of works were novelty, originality, quality and accuracy, composition and colors.

After the end of the competition program, the jury announced the winners. Zhamal Kaliyeva won the third-place award. She is sure that it is a real success. Madina Kaskyrbayeva received a certificate.

It took Zhamal Kaliyeava much time to prepare her works for the competition, but she says that she is satisfied with the result and that it was well worth the effort.

According to our prize-winner, in order to succeed in such competitions, candidates must not only be motivated, but also demonstrate their talent, skills, creative thinking and ingenuity. “My idea was to create new designs that would reflect creativity and style of our epoch. Frankly speaking, I don’t like working on something ordinary, so I wanted my designs to look as fresh and unexpected as possible.”

“We are especially grateful to our supervisor and teacher Mayra Iklasova who helped us prepare for the competition, accompanied and supported us throughout the event,” says Madina Kaskyrbayeva. Mayra Iklasova, who is a member of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan, received a letter of appreciation from the Rector of T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts.

Participation in this competition was a debut at such a high level for both of our students. They say it was a good start, but now they need to go on and never give up. Both girls are now working on new designs for young people who want to show their individuality to the world.
