On February 27, 2015, a traditional musical and theatrical performance took place in the lobby of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University to celebrate the end of winter.

Among the participants of the event there were faculty and staff members and, of course, students of the University.

According to the organizers, the main objectives of the event are reviving Russian folk customs and introducing students to some features of Russian culture and traditions.

All guests of the festive event witnessed a spectacular theatrical performance given by activists of student organizations and members of the Student Philharmonic of Pavlodar State University.

The program of the event included original dancing and vocal performances by students of the University. At the end of the celebration, there was a large feast where everyone could taste dishes of Russian cuisine. Of course, pancakes, an essential attribute of the Butter Week, were especially popular among the guests.

Tilek Masalim, a specialist at the Department of Educational and Social Affairs, emphasized that such events unite students of different nationalities who study at S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University. It is also a great chance to get to know some traditions of other people. “Our University holds this sun-festival on a yearly basis. Our students and staff are always looking forward to this holiday, as on this day we celebrate the end of winter and beginning of spring,” said Tilek Masalim.
