Zhumaseit Bizhan, a Professor of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University and veteran journalist, celebrated his 75th birthday in the Friendship House.

This talented specialist devoted 40 years of his life to the beloved profession covering historical, political, social and cultural events taking place in our country.

Mahabbat Sadvokasova, Deputy Head of the Department of Internal Policy of Pavlodar region, presented him with a letter of appreciation from Kanat Bozumbayev. Akim of the region noted that Zhumaseit Bizhan's works devoted to the formation of the sovereign Kazakhstan have historical value and serve as an example for young journalists. “You have made a great contribution to the formation and development of journalism in Pavlodar region,” said Kanat Bozumbayev.

Acting Rector of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University Arman Akishev emphasized that Zhumaseit Bizhan's works are invaluable practical guides for students. In these works, the author shares the secrets of his journalistic skills developed throughout his career which has lasted almost half a century.

Yuriy Pominov, the Chairman of the Pavlodar regional branch of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan, congratulated his colleague on his birthday. “I would compare Zhumaseit Bizhan with a Bayanaul pine, the seed of which can grow even on rocks. In any place, regardless of any difficulties, he has always tried to improve his skills and become better as a journalist. He has always stood tall like a great tree.”

Gadilbek Shalakhmetov, Former Chairman of the broadcasting company “Kazakhstan”, the first press-secretary of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of the TV company “Mir”, Head of the Department of Television, Radio and Public Relations of L.N. Gumilyov ENU, sent a congratulatory telegram where he wrote “You have played a significant role in development of the region; the importance of your contribution to the formation of the regional TV and radio complex is also undeniable.” There were many telegrams, but the ones sent by Zhumaseit Bizhan's youth friends (Bugybay, Gulshara and Aytzhan) were especially touching.

Kabzhan Yedilbay, Head of the Office for Languages Development of Pavlodar region, noted Zhumaseit Bizhan's significant personal contribution to the development and popularization of the Kazakh language. “Wherever he works, whatever historical events he covers, he always treats the Kazakh language with great love,” he said.

Orazgali Bekturov, Deputy Akim of Aktogay area, awarded the hero of the day a ribbon of a Honorary Citizen of Aktogay area and congratulated him on behalf of the area's residents.

Looking at Zhumaseit Bizhan's biography, we can trace the history of television journalism in Pavlodar region and Kazakhstan. From 1990 to 1995, he highlighted sessions of Kazakh SSR Parliament and then the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Zhumaseit Bizhan was among the very few journalists who interviewed the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

All guests of the event noted Zhumaseit Bizhan's great diligence, organizational skills, shrewdness, his dedication to the profession, and, of course, his selflessness and kindness. The veteran journalist is still very active. Since 2005, Zhumaseit Bizhan has worked at S. Toraighyrov PSU. He is the author of 6 books and over 50 research papers.

There was a presentation of Zhumaseit Bizhan's book “Thought Wave” (kaz. Ой толқыны), which is a collection of materials devoted to significant events in the life of our Republic. The book includes his works in such genres as interview, report, review, roundtable and journalistic articles.
