S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University held a meeting with Danel Margulan, Academician A.Kh. Margulan's daughter.

Danel Margulan is a Candidate of Medical Sciences and Vice President of the International Foundation named after Academician Alkey Margulan.

During the meeting, Danel Margulan answered many questions asked by students and staff members of PSU. Then she visited an exhibition of books by A.Kh. Margulan and the Archaeological Research Center which was named after him. V.K. Merts, the Head of the Center, showed the results of archaeological excavation activities and shared his thoughts on the archaeological legacy left by Alkey Margulan.

Danel Margulan told that she continues working with the archives and translates them from the Arabic alphabet to the Cyrillic alphabet. “Very few works written by Alkey Margulan were published during his lifetime. He kept on working without thinking about the fame and glory that he could get for his works. All he wanted to do was to make a worthy contribution to the development of science and leave it all to his descendants, so that they could continue his work,” she said.

Talking about the work entitled “Saryarka. Mining and Metallurgy of the Bronze Age”, Danel Margulan told that her father was sure that it would never be published. This book contains a description of Begazy-Dandybay culture discovered by Alkey Margulan in Central Kazakhstan. This culture brought together the best of the Sary-Arka art, ancient mausoleums of huge stone blocks, household items and jewellery made of bronze, ceramics, etc. A. Margulan wrote that such a rich bronze culture could only exist in the territory with ample mineral resources and that it must be based on ancient mining and metallurgy.

In conclusion, Danel Margulan said: “I hope that my words have reached your hearts today. You must study the legacy left by great scientists of our region and use it wherever possible. Some say that young people are not interested in science anymore. I say that a successful scientist is the nation’s pride. I urge you to take your studies seriously and get involved in research activities”.
