Yergali Buyebayev, an undergraduate student of the Department of Legal Studies, Faculty of Business and Law of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, took third place at the regional academic competition in English for students majoring in non-linguistic programs “Education in a Global Context”.

The main purpose of the competition is to promote the idea of multilingualism, raise the quality of teaching foreign languages and improve students' sociocultural and linguocultural competencies.

The academic competition included a lexical and grammatical test and a speaking section. There was also an interactive study group for participants of the competition.

All prize-winners received certificates of appreciation and gifts. Winners of the competition will also take part in the national academic competition.

“Nowadays, good knowledge of foreign languages is not only a tool for intercultural communication, but also a key factor ensuring young specialists’ competitiveness. Participants of the competition demonstrated a good level of English and self-mastery. I must say that I have gained invaluable experience as a result of taking part in the academic mobility program, attending lectures delivered by PSU members and scholars from other countries, which helped me a lot in this competition,” says Yergali Buyebayev.
