The administration, staff members and year one students of S. Toraighyrov PSU celebrated the Health Day on September 13, 2014.

The event was organized by Sunkar Sports Club, Department of Educational and Social Affairs, and Student Philharmonic of the University.

The aim of the event was promoting a healthy lifestyle, improving the health of the nation, and increasing the popularity of sports.

Vice-rector for Development Strategy, Educational and Social Affairs of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor Arman Akishev noted in his opening speech that physical education and sport are key factors in solving many social problems as they improve people's health, help develop healthier lifestyles and build strong character. 'Our President and the Leader of our Nation N. Nazarbayev repeatedly stresses the importance of a healthy lifestyle telling us that we need a healthy nation. We totally support the state policy in the field of health and sports,' said Arman Akishev.

Despite the cloudy weather, the Health Day was a success. An intense competition program and sporting events made the festival really exciting and entertaining.

On this day, not only students, but also the academic and support staff members received a chance to take part in competitions and demonstrate their sporting skills.

The schedule of the Health Day included competitions in volleyball, weight lifting, tug-of-war, arm wrestling, and other sports.

At the end of the competition program, winners were announced in each discipline. Student of the Faculty of Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering and Transport Almas Mazhit won the first prize in weight-lifting and the second prize in men’s arm wrestling competition; student of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Yermek Toleubekov took the second place, while Sergey Morskov from the Faculty of Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering and Transport won the third prize and also the third prize in arm wrestling. Temirlan Meyramov from the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Natural Sciences took the first place in arm wrestling. Prize-winners in the women's competition in arm wrestling are M. Mautkaziyeva (1st place) from the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technology, A. Tukuyeva (2nd place) and A. Rakhimova (3rd place) from the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Natural Sciences.

The team of the Faculty of Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering and Transport won the main prize, the Faculty of Agricultural Technology took the second place, while the team of the Faculty of Humanities and Education finished third in the tourist relay-race.

The team of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Natural Sciences was the best in volleyball. The Faculty of Humanities and Education and the Faculty of Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering and Transport took the second and third places respectively.

Winners of the men's tug-of-war competition are the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Natural Sciences (1st prize), the Faculty of Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering and Transport (2nd) and the Faculty of Energy Engineering (3rd). In women's competition, the Faculty of Humanities and Education took the first place, while the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Agricultural Technology took the second and third places respectively.

One of the most memorable moments of the event was performance of the teams composed of the deans and vice-deans of the faculties.
