Saltanat Kenbeilova, a senior lecturer of the Department of Metallurgy of the Faculty of Metallurgy, Machine Building and Transport of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, has become a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Petrochemistry.

Saltanat Kenbeilova graduated from the full-time graduate school of K.I. Satpayev Kazakh National Technical University.

In December 2013, she defended her doctoral thesis entitled “Radiationally and Chemically Functionalized Atactic Polypropylene for Bitumen Modification”. She has recently received the official confirmation from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Relevance of her research is determined by the fact that the road construction is now an integral part of the economic development, and improvement of the quality of roads has become a major problem for our country.

According to Saltanat Kenbeilova, this is due to the fact that the traffic loads have increased, so has the technogenic impact on the roads such as acid precipitation, atmospheric pollutants, and frequent temperature changes. 'Taken together, these factors lead to intensive destruction of road topping.

One of the most crucial ways of improving the quality and durability of asphalt-concrete roads is modification of bitumen with synthetic polymeric materials. This has become the main focus of our research,' said the scientist.
