The annual charity event Kamkorlyk dedicated to the International Day of Older Persons and Day of Persons with Disabilities is held in our city from September 23 till October 23, 2013.

The Committee on Youth Affairs and students of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University participated in this event in order to provide assistance to people with disabilities and seniors living alone in microdistrict 6. On this day, the focus is on the interests of low-income senior citizens, the disabled elderly, as well as the problems of providing material, social and other kinds of assistance to them.

Director of the Department for Education and Social Affairs Kayrbay Ashenov noted that development of the sense of patriotism, respect for the elderly, veterans of the Great Patriotic War and homefront workers is the issue of primary importance in implementation of the state policy of Kazakhstan.

The main purpose of Kamkorlyk is to make sure that older persons are not left behind and pay tribute to the traditions of respect for the elderly as a sign of recognition of their services and multifaceted contribution to the development of the state.

According to the Head of the Department of Education and Social Affairs Dana Mukhametzhanova, such events teach us to pay attention to the needs of older people, it is a call to focus efforts on building the society of equal opportunities for people of all ages.

The Chairman of the Board of Veterans of microdistrict 6 Abzhan Shakhmatalinov thanked the students and activists from S. Toraighyrov PSU: “Today, we can and we must make sure that older people live longer, make their lives better, more diverse, full and satisfying”, said Abzhan Shakhmatalinov.

PSU students made a considerable contribution to organization of the event by providing assistance in the form of foodstuffs, consumer goods and services to pensioners, the elderly and disabled people of microdistrict 6.
