The corresponding decree was signed by  Kassym-Jomart Tokayev this week.

The document says that now the National Academy of Sciences will work under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.  This means that the Head of State and his administration will be included in the process of further development of the National Academy of Sciences.  Thus, the issues that concern the scientific community of the country should be resolved much more productively.

- The status of a scientist in Kazakhstan is really getting higher.  What does the decree of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev give?  The most important thing is that the President himself will supervise the work of the National Academy of Sciences.  I think that thanks to this, the academy and all the scientists who are member of it will get new opportunities for conducting various research and scientific developments.  The potential of our scientific community is huge, so we are simply obliged to use it for good purposes - the development of the state and society, - said the rector of the university Yerkin Sadykov.

The Academy of Sciences was established on June 1, 1946 and became the main headquarters of science of the republic, the coordinator of research work in Kazakhstan.  NAS RK unites 228 members, 17 foreign and 110 honorary members of NAS RK, collective members - 41 and 23 professors of NAS RK.
With a considerable intellectual potential, Kazakhstan science can independently ensure the creation of breakthrough high-science technologies.
