S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University hosted a round table “Political repressions and Pavlodar Irtysh Land”, dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repressions.

The organizers of the event were the Department of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan and the Department of History of Kazakhstan of PSU.

The round table brought together scientists, historians, experts, students and graduates. The guest of honor was Maria Bayramkulova, chairperson of the public association “Pavlodar Karachayevo-Cherkessand Kabardino-BalkarianNational Cultural Center “Elbrus”, who spoke about how millions of people, including entire nations, were victims of political repression and were resettledto Kazakhstan.

SauleMamytova, head of the Department of Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Historical Sciences,emphasized the need to study the surviving historical evidence and eyewitness recollections in order to have an objective view of the nature and scale of those events.

The reports on political repressions were made by YerzhanToraighyrov,Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, KayratBattalov,Director of the Institute of History and Culture of Kazakhstan of S. ToraighyrovPSU, Candidate of Historical Sciences,. andAslan Azerbayev,senior lecturer of the Department of History of Kazakhstan. Student Dana Zhumagultoldabout the repressed people in Pavlodar Irtysh Land.

At the end of the meeting, the manager of library of the people of Kazakhstan, Elena Likhanova, presented the book exhibition “Without the right to oblivion”.
