Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Kazakhstan Ichiro Kawabata visited S. Toraighyrov PSU.
In his speech for students and lecturers Ichiro Kawabata told about the main stages in the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Japan.
The Ambassador also emphasised that the economic relations between Japan and Kazakhstan are mutually supportive. Kazakhstan is rich in natural resources, and Japan is rich in advanced technologies that can meet the requirements of Kazakhstan in diversification of industry and establishment of infrastructure.
"By combining our forces, we could expand opportunities for economic cooperation in such fields as ecology, energy saving, transport and logistics, geology and many others", the diplomat said.
The guest cited some statistics: "Kazakhstan ranks 9th in the world for territory. This is 7 times more than Japan. And Japan is 7 times larger in population than you and Japan ranks 9th in the world in terms of population", I. Kawabata said.
Mr. Kawabata added that scientific cooperation has already been developed in such fields as history, archeology, medicine, nuclear energetics.
The ambassador laid emphasis on nuclear safety of Kazakhstan and, continuing the topic, Kairulla Akhazhanov, Candidate of Agricultural science Associate Professor of the Department of Zootechnology, Genetics and Selection, presented his monograph "Chemical Composition and Feed Nutrition in the Safe Zone of the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site " to the guest, which is about the methods of involving the land of the test site into the national economic turn-roundr. The professor noted that the Japanese experience in this area is of great interest for Kazakhstani scientists. "We know that the Semipalatinsk test site is six times larger for territory than in Nevada, but there were twice as little blasts, thereafter there are more safe areas there", he said.
After the lecture I. Kawabata answered questions of students and university staff and made a donation of a number of books on the history, culture and politics of Japan to PSU library.
Archaeological finds from the main fund of the museum complex and research center named after A. Margulan were presented to the Ambassador. The latest business ideas of the start-up academy of PSU were presented during the visit. As a present, the souvenirs made in the framework of the “Alau” project were gifted to the guest.
Summing up the results of the bilateral meeting, Acting Rector of PSU, Vice-rector for scientific work and innovations, doctor of biological sciences, professor Nurlan Yerzhanov also expressed confidence in the development of further areas of bilateral cooperation in science and education.
