A Science Winter School on Cognitive Linguistics and Conceptual Study was held at S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University.

According to the winter school’s facilitator, Director of the Multilingual Education Center of S. Toraighyrov PSU, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Zhanarsyn Kapenova, the event is aimed at unifying a scientific idea, sharing experience between leading scholars-philologists and discussing urgent issues of present linguistics in the context of cognitive and conceptual study. 

The academic staff of S. Toraighyrov PSU, universities of Semipalatinsk, Petropavlovsk, Karaganda and other cities of Kazakhstan took part in the seminar.

The lectures were given by the following famous foreign scholars-linguists: a corresponding member of the Siberian Higher Education Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Honorary Doctor, Professor of Khrulyov Military Academy of Logistics and Transport Marina Pimenova (St. Petersburg, the Russian Federation), Professor of P. M. Masherov Vitebsk State University, Doctor of Philological Sciences Valentina Maslova (Vitebsk, the Republic of Belarus).

A roundtable titled “Multilingualism in the Republic of Kazakhstan: the Role of Kazakh, Russian and English Languages in the Educational Field” was held as a part of the closing stage of the event. 

“Pavlodar State University became home for me. When I come here, I meet familiar people and I like it. The theme “Conceptual Linguistics and Conceptual Study” became a traditional one. The audience is well qualified; the participants give answers to my questions and set the pace of a lecture themselves. We are going to continue cooperation with PSU in future. It involves development of dual-diploma programs of A. S. Pushkin Leningrad State University (Tsarskoye Selo) with S. Toraighyrov PSU. I am sure that Pavlodar will burn like a star!” said Marina Vladimirovna.
