A member of the Artists Union of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a senior lecturer of the Department of Architecture and Design of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University Maysa Iklassova became a participant of a Handicrafts Festival, which took place in Abu Dhabi (the UAE).

It was the first time when Kazakhstan took part in the international exhibition held in Abu Dhabi along with the 7 countries (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Oman, Morocco, Bahrain, Bosnia and Afghanistan).

Maysa Iklassova exhibited her felt paintings made in the traditional ancient Kazakh technique, tekemet, and felt souvenirs in Abu Dhabi.

“We demonstrated our national handicraft and applied art in Abu Dhabi. Besides that, we showed the process of handicraft works making, conducted master classes. It was interesting for everyone: we saw the national Near-Eastern applied art, other craftspeople and guests, in their turn, had a chance to touch with the spirit of steppes and deep centuries-old tradition of nomads. We performed with dignity and many people from Eastern countries and Europe got acquainted with the art of “the Country of Great Steppes”,” said Maysa Iklassova.

According to the results of the festival, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the UAE Kairat Lama Sharif presented Maysa Iklassova with a letter of appreciation and a certificate from the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan charity fund.
