A famous international expert, Professor, the director of leadership and political science programs at Oxford University (Great Britain) Alan Hudson is delivering lectures for graduate and postgraduate students at S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University.
The professor of Oxford University is delivering lectures for students and is carrying out consultations for Master’s students majoring in Sociology, Philosophy and Culturology.
Without doubt lectures delivered by the foreign expert will give students of S. Toraighyrov PSU the opportunity to master up-to-date leadership methods, to get acquainted with the latest scientific research results of the world’s leading scholar in the field of social conflicts prevention.
The professor delivers lectures with vividness and impressiveness. Students particularly noted his creative approach, the research and developmental character of the lectures.
According to the acting head of the Department of Philosophy, Social and Humanistic Disciplines of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Associate Professor Mayra Kozhamzharova, active attraction of foreign professors is one of the action points of internationalization implemented by the University.
“Oxford University is a famous brand with a world-known name. I dare say it is the first time the scholar from Oxford University has delivered lectures at PSU. Having attended the courses “Modern Globalization Processes” and “Leadership in a Changing World”, our students gained a deep understanding of these processes in political, economic and cultural spheres of the modern society. The issues examined at lectures are complex and urgent both in today’s society and for graduate and postgraduate students of our University”, said Mayra Zhanaydarovna.
Alan Hudson has international experience in teaching sociology and modern history and in collaboration with high-ranking officials and chiefs of China, the USA, Russia, Latin American countries, India and other states. He is currently a Visiting Professor at Fudan University (Shanghai), Shanghai Jiao Tong University and China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong (CELAP).
Professor Hudson has been to Kazakhstan twice. During these two visits he delivered lectures at the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astana. Mister Hudson said that “sometimes it is necessary to get out of metropolises and get a fresh perspective on life, change the rhythm of living”. Professor emphasized that “people living in Kazakhstan must preserve their own uniqueness, in this connection they must follow the direction initiated by the president of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. A. Nazarbayev, keep the unity of the state and adopt successful experience of other countries, having made their own contributions to the world culture and economy”.
Alan Hudson had nothing but praise for language skills of students, who attended the lectures. During his conversation with students the professor was surprised that not only did they speak Kazakh and Russian languages, they could also speak English very well. In this connection he noted that his lecture received a lively response and clear understanding of processes, which he generalized.
The professor expressed his keen interest in further cooperation with the University, having noted that “the University’s students, striving for excellence and having sufficient language background, have a really good chance of studying at Oxford University”.
At the end of the visit the parties signed a Memorandum, providing for internships for postgraduate students of S. Toraighyrov PSU at Oxford University. The agreement will provide the opportunity for the academic staff of the University to take professional development courses. Besides this, within the framework of the Memorandum Oxford University scholars will visit PSU to deliver lectures and hold a few scientific and consulting seminars for the University’s graduate and postgraduate students in the near future.
