The rank of Professor in Constructional Materials Processing in Mechanical Engineering was conferred upon Nurgul Smaylova, Doctor of Engineering Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Honored Worker of Education and Science, by the Committee for Control in the Field of Education and Science of the MES.

Nurgul Smaylova is a holder of The Name in Science title and the Order for Contribution to World Science. Besides, her name is in the list of the world's outstanding scientists.

The Awarding Committee of the European Scientific and Industrial Consortium awarded Wilhelm Leibniz Medal to her for a contribution to the development of the engineering science recognized by the international scientific community.

In Kazakhstan, the academic rank of Professor is conferred upon members of research organizations and higher education institutions by the MES Committee for Control in the Field of Education and Science (CCES) based on the nomination from academics' home institutions.

Professor N.T. Smaylova made a great contribution to the training of teaching and research staff. She supervised 2 Candidate's dissertations on topical problems of technology and equipment for mechanical, physical and technical processing of materials.

Nurgul Smaylova is also a member of the editorial board of Science, an international electronic journal.

The field of her research activities is pressure metal treatment, physical and mechanical processing, instruments and equipment for the plastic deformation of metals and alloys.

As of today, N.T. Smaylova has over 75 publications, including 1 textbook recommended by the MES, 3 monographs (published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing, Germany), 13 research papers in international journals (including 4 research papers in journals with a non-zero impact-factor in the ISI Web of Knowledge database, Thomson Reuters), 12 patents, 23 research papers in journals recommended by the CCES, publications in the proceedings of international conferences (Russia, Poland, and Belarus).

An academic rank conferred by the CCES is recognized in all educational and research institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
