An author's seminar entitled “The Art of Writing Research Papers” was held in S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University by ELSEVIER Publishing Company on May 15, 2014.

The seminar was held by the regional manager for working with clients of Elsevier BV Gamze Keskin. Its purpose is developing the skills of choosing the best strategy for writing and publishing research papers.

Elsevier is one of the four largest publishing houses in the world, which annually releases about a quarter of all research papers published in scientific journals in the world. Founded in 1880 in Amsterdam (Netherlands), it has subsidiaries in the UK, USA, Brazil and other countries.

Elsevier publishes more than 2,000 journals with more than 250,000 research papers per year.

It owns such well-known journals as The Lancet, books from the Grey's Anatomy series, ScienceDirect internet portal, the Trends and Current Opinion series.

The following problems were discussed during the seminar: how to get published in scientific journals, Science Direct resources review; choosing the type of a publication before writing; scientific language; layout rules; author's rights and obligations; checking the manuscript, etc.

The seminar was attended by the leading academics, staff members, Doctoral and Master's degree students of the University.
