The delegation of Toraighyrov University took part in a meeting with the Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan Kamil Akatov.

As the vice minister noted, the number of scientists and researchers in the country has grown 1.5 times in recent years, and funding for science has increased by 70% at once.

- Despite multiple reforms in Kazakhstan over the past 30 years, science has not become a driver of economic development, - Kamil Akatov emphasized.  – As in other post-Soviet countries, we see all the shortcomings: the low level of scientific activity, its critical dependence on state funding, low demand from business, the outflow and aging of personnel.  The share of science in the republic's GDP is falling and today is only 0.13%.

According to the vice minister, the goal of the modern education system is to train a new formation of personnel capable of working effectively in the global labor market.  To this end, Kazakhstan plans to open 12 branches of foreign universities by 2029.  They also want to attract talented foreign youth to this process.

To consolidate the efforts of universities, akimats and business structures, the "Mamandygym bolashagym" project will be launched.  It will be based on the results of the study of the Atlas of new professions.  The necessary funding for this has already been allocated.  The project is being implemented in five regions of the country, including Pavlodar region.

It should be noted that Toraighyrov University was the first to develop innovative educational programs within the framework of the Atlas of New Professions.  In the new academic year, 12 IEPs will be launched at the university at once.
