Elena Ladynina became the winner of the International Educational and Research Competition "Student of the Year".

Under the guidance of candidate of agricultural sciences, Associate Professor of ToU Irina Anikina, a student of Toraighyrov University received the first degree in the nomination "Biological Sciences" for her research work on the topic "Obtaining tissue culture of Calendula officinalis in vitro".  

She noted that at present, interest in biosynthetic herbal preparations is growing, and this is due to the annual reduction in natural reserves of plant materials and the deterioration of their quality due to the high anthropogenic pressure on ecosystems.  Calendula is in the top 10 plants used in medicine and pharmacology.

 - Scientists of Toraigyrov University are conducting a project to grow medicinal plants in our region.  The fact that students are joining  means that this direction has a huge potential.  The research of Elena Ladynina, which was noted at the international competition, is of great practical importance for us.  I hope she will continue her project  in the form of a diploma paper and thereby contribute to the common cause of the university, - said the rector of the university Yerkin Sadykov.
