History of the Department
The Department of Kazakh Philology was established in 1996. Kuandyk Zhusip, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, was Head of the Department from 1997 to 2007. Nartay Zhusupov, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, has been Head of this Department since 2008.

Achievements of the Department
Publications in the 2017-2018 academic year: 19 research papers in Thomson Reuters journals, 27 research papers in journals with impact factor, 12 research papers in Scopus journals, 7 research papers in journals with Hirsch index, 48 research papers in journals recommended by HAC, 10 research papers in national journals, 24 publications in proceedings of international research conferences held abroad, 160 publications in the proceedings of international conference in the RK, 71 publications in proceedings of national conferences, 36 books, 12 monographs, 10 study guides.
A 20-volume collection of works by the famous Kazakh poet Mashkhur Zhusup Kopeyev was released. Many research papers were published in journals included in the Thomson Reuters, Scopus and Russian Science Citation Index databases, as well as journals recommended by CCES of MES, proceedings of international research conferences held both in our Republic and abroad.
Research work with students is held on a regular basis.
Members of the Department annually take professional development courses and take part in various workshops.
The Department works in close cooperation with schools of the city. A workshop for school teachers on in-depth study of the Kazakh literature in schools is held at secondary school 22, Abay School №10.
Academic staff of the Department have copyright certificates for e-learning courses and textbooks, certificates of implementation of their study guides into the educational process.
Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor A.O. Karipzhanova became the winner of a state grant "Best University Teacher in 2016.
Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor A.K. Turyshev became the winner of a state grant "Best University Teacher in 2017.
