History of the faculty

The Faculty of Engineering and Construction was established in 1961. At that time, it offered only 2 programs: Industrial and Civil Construction and Production of Concrete and Reinforced Concrete Products.

The Faculty employs over 40 Doctors and Candidates of Sciences.

The Faculty has a Research and Production Center “Architecture, Construction and Research”. Participation in the work of this Center helps young scientists, undergraduate and graduate students get practical experience in research activities.

The Faculty has the following scientific clubs:

- Construction Materials with the Use of Wastes (scientific supervisor: Associate Professor of the Department of Production and Standardization of Construction Materials V.G. Nikiforova).

- Construction Mechanics (scientific supervisor: Doctor of Engineering Sciences, Professor of the Department of Industrial and Civil Construction S.K. Yelmuratov)

- Modern Materials and Technologies (scientific supervisor: Associate Professor of the Department of Industrial and Civil Construction Z.N. Dakhno)

- Modeling (scientific supervisor: Associate Professor of the Department of Architecture and Design U.I. Kayrbekov)

Academic staff of the Faculty works in close cooperation with higher education institutions located abroad: Czech Technical University in Prague (Czech Republic), Odessa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Tashkent Road-Transport Institute and Siberian Automobile and Highway Academy (SIBADI).

Over the last few years, members of the Faculty performed more than 45 independent research projects.

The Faculty of Architecture and Construction concluded agreements on cooperation with the leading companies of the construction industry, research and development organizations:

- Irtyshtransstroy Association;

- Gensstroy LLP;

- Atamura LLP - production of construction materials, products and structures;

- ASI LLP - inspection, testing and reconstruction of buildings and structures;

- Zhardem LLP.

Faculty members received over 150 author's certificates and patents for inventions, published over 400 research papers, 45 monographs, and a large amount of literature for teachers and students (teacher’s manuals, study guides, dictionaries, reference books, etc.).

Students of the Faculty take an active part in various competitions, research projects and symposia, which is evidenced by the following achievements:

Graduates of the Faculty are highly-skilled and competitive specialists in the field of construction, architecture and design.
