Since January 2021, Toraighyrov University, together with Indiana University (USA), have been implementing an international project "Professional Development in Academic Writing and English in STEM Classes".

The project was competitively selected within the framework of the partnership program of cooperation between U.S. universities and Central Asian universities.  Funded by the United States Embassy and administered by the American Councils for International Education.

Within the framework of the project, professors from Indiana University conduct training seminars for teachers of ToU and a number of other Kazakhstan universities that are part of the project consortium.

A regular webinar on the "Fundamentals of Academic Writing" module was held the day before.

The students learned how to work in Google Scholar, got acquainted with the model of creating a space for research (CARS) by Professors J. Swales and C. Fick.

The content of the module includes a series of video lectures, presentations, discussion of scientific publications from the international database Web of Science and a section "questions and answers".
