Head of the Depatment of the Kazakh Language, Professor of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, Ayman Zeynulina, and Senior Lecturer of the Department, Master of Philology, Bayan Kozhakhmetova, took part in the Conference devoted to the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate.

Kazakh Innovative University of Humanities and Law (Semey) hosted a Regional Research Conference on the Legal and Judicial System of the Kazakhs, Laws of the Kazakh Steppe, Biy Court and Biys' Contribution to the Strengthening of the Judicial System and Law of the Kazakh State, and Abay Kunanbayev's “Karamola”.

This Conference was scheduled as a part of the celebration of the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate and preparation for the International Conference on Kazakh Law and Biy Courts as a Phenomenon of Kazakh Statehood, which will be held by the Supreme Court in Astana in September.

The event was attended by a Supreme Court judge A. Kurkbayev, court chairmen, representatives of the RK Agency for Civil Service Affairs and Anti-Corruption, the State Revenue Department of EKR, judges from Almaty, Pavlodar, and East Kazakhstan regional courts, Akim of Semey A. Karimov, legal scholars G. Yesimov, M. Koygeldiyev, A. Yespenbetov, G. Bayerkenova, Ye. Bulanov, K. Tastekeyev, heads of local executive and law enforcement bodies, representatives of public associations, educational institutions and the media.

During the Conference, reports were made by A. Kurkbaev (a judge of the Supreme Court), G. Yesimov (Head of the Department at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Doctor of Sciences), M. Koygeldiyev (Head of the Department at Abay KazNU, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Kazakh National Academy of Sciences), A. Zeynulina (Head of the Department of Kazakh Language at S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, Professor), B. Kozhakhmetova (Senior Lecturer of the Department, Master of Philology), as well as chairmen and judges of courts. The Conference included 2 sections with over 20 reports made by well-known historians, lawyers, linguists, researchers, and writers. These reports were devoted to public administration in the Kazakh Khanate, the role of the biy court and customary law of the Kazakhs.

The Conference also featured a presentation of Regulations of the Great Steppe, a book by members of the Department of the Kazakh Language of S. Toraighyrov PSU. It is based on the results of research conducted at Pavlodar regional court. Each participant of the Conference received a free copy of the book as an auxiliary manual. The book was praised by members of the Supreme Court.

According to Ayman Zeynulina, Head of the Department of the Kazakh Language at S. Toraighyrov PSU, this year will be remembered by many generations to come as the year of the triumph of centuries-long historical traditions of Kazakh statehood. “The celebration of the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate is a revival of the history of the great rulers of the great Kazakh steppe,” she said.

There was a special exhibition held by the Center for Scientific Research entitled “Alash Ideas of the Past As the Basis for Today's Mangylyk Yel Idea”, as well as a presentation of paintings and books about the life and work of biys in the Kazakh Khanate. Finally, there was a presentation of a documentary film about Abay's life, Abay Kunanbayev As a Great Biy.
