Admission Rules for International Students

Admission of other countries' citizens to higher education institutions in Kazakhstan is carried out based on the results of an interview. They are enrolled on a fee-paying basis.

Native Kazakhs (non-residents) are entitled to free first-degree higher education in accordance with the state education order.

International students entering Master's or Doctoral degree programs take the following entrance examinations:

1) in the state or Russian language (the language of instruction);

2) in specialized subjects. 

Documents Submission Deadlines (Bachelor’s Programs)

June 20 – July 9 — application period for participation in CTA.
June 20 – July 1 — application period for creative specialities.
July 2 – 7 — creative exams.
July 17 – 23 — Complex Testing of Applicants.
July 23 – 31 — application period for participation in the competition for state educational grants.
June 20 - August 25 — application period for admission on the basis of higher education.
August 10 – 25 — enrollment.

Documents Submission Deadlines (Master's or Doctoral Degree Programs)

July 10 – 30 – documents submission.

August 10 – 20 – entrance exams.

till August 25 – enrollment.

List of the Required Documents (Bachelor’s Programs):

1) application on a special form;

2) education certificate (original);

3) 6 photos (3x4);

4) medical certificate (Form 086-U) with the stamps from the dependency and mental health clinics (plus a copy), a photoroentgenography, Wassermann reaction blood test (original), a copy of the vaccination card;

5) passport (copy);

6) nostrification certificate;

7) a folder with strings, an envelope

8) receipt of payment for testing.

List of the Required Documents (Master’s Programs):

1) application addressed to the head of the organization;

2) a notarized copy of the higher education documents;

3) personnel record card and a document confirming professional experience (if any);

4) 6 photos (3x4), a folder with strings and an envelope;

5) medical certificate (Form 086-U);

6) passport (copy);

7) nostrification certificate;

8) list of scientific and methodological papers (if any);

9) receipt of payment for testing.

List of the Required Documents (Doctoral Programs):

1) application addressed to the head of the organization;

2) justification (in the form of an abstract) of the research topic in the Kazakh or Russian language;

3) passport (copy);

4) notarized copies of the documents confirming education;

5) nostrification certificate;

6) list of scientific and methodological papers (if any);

7) medical certificate (Form 086-U);

8) personnel record card and a document confirming professional experience (if any);

9) copies of documents confirming studies at other education institutions, graduate schools;

10) receipt of payment for testing.

Besides copies of the documents specified in this paragraph, an applicant must also provide original documents for verification of the copies.

Documents in a foreign language must have a notarized translation into the Kazakh or Russian language.

Education documents issued by foreign educational organizations go through the nostrification procedure as prescribed by the law during the first semester after enrollment.

Reinstatement or Transfer from a Foreign University

When applying for reinstatement or transfer from a foreign university, students must submit a UNT or CTA certificate with a score of no less than 50 points. In case of the absence of such a certificate, students take CTA during the summer or winter vacations.

August 8 - 15 - application period for transfer students;

August 25 – complex testing.

January 8 - 15 - application period for transfer students;

January 25 – complex testing.

List of the Documents Required for the Nostrification Procedure:

1) an application for nostrification of education documents;

2) education documents at all levels (original);

3) supplement to the education document with indication of the following information: the number of hours for the disciplines and practices (if any), final grades, course and graduation works, and other components of the educational process (original);

4) notarized copies of education documents and supplements to them (with a translation into the Kazakh or Russian language, if necessary);

5) Non-residents of the Republic of Kazakhstan also submit notarized copies of identity card or passport of the education document owner (translated into the Kazakh or Russian language, if necessary). If the holder of the education document changed his or her surname, first name or middle name after receiving the document, it’s necessary to provide a notarized copy of the supporting document (marriage certificate, identity card, or passport).

6) A copy of the license and / or the accreditation certificate of the institution that issued the education document, except for state documents on basic secondary, general secondary education affixed with the seal of the education institution (translated into the Kazakh or Russian language, if necessary). If there is no copy of the license and / or certificate of accreditation of the institution, it is necessary to submit an electronic / scanned copy of information about the educational organization that issued the education document (with a reference to the website or other sources).

7) payment receipt.

8) identity card or passport of the authorized representative and the document certifying the authority of representation - in case of a request from a representative receiving state services.
