Within the framework of the fifth international Farabi readings, the experts of S. Toraighyrov PSU took part in the forum of the departments of journalism “Progress in the application of UNESCO training programs: the paradigm of sustainable development”.
The event, timed to the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan's accession to the UN, was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Al-Farabi KazNU with the assistance of the UNESCO Office.
The forum brought together representatives of the British Council and diplomatic missions of the United States of America, Afghanistan, as well as representatives of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan universities that train specialists in journalism.
The problem of verification of information and neutral presentation of materials, the experience of educational programs of other countries was discussed by the head of the Department of Kazakh language and journalism, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Professor Ayman Zeynulina and senior lecturer Kymbat Belbigayeva.
On the forum, discussions were held on the training of journalists based on the international standard according to UNESCO model, taking into account the problems and advantages, strategic priorities of the country and existing initiatives and achievements. Thus, further steps were identified to develop an action plan, the working group participants, the volume of work, etc.
In addition, the participants exchanged views on ethics and freedom of expression of opinion of journalist and digital media, and also considered such areas as gender, advocacy and ecological journalism, coverage of sustainable tourism and others.
