Students of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies of Pavlodar State University became winners of prizes places at the Republican subject Olympiad, which was held at Kazakh Abylai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages.

Students from 26 universities of the country took part in the intellectual competition.

The selection of winners was held in three stages.

Excellent knowledge and creative approach to the tasks helped the second-year student Timur Saketov, masterfully cope with the tasks and take the second place in the specialty “Translation Studies”.

“We had two tasks: written translation and translation of the sounding text. The whole difficulty lies in the fact that for a short period of time it was necessary to give a full translation of the text about the crypto currency into 348 characters with accurate rendering of content and meaning, without deviation from the original and preserving the author's style”, Timur shared.

In addition, the good results showed Ansat Dzhamalbaev, Yevgenia Melnikova, Nurgul Adamzhanova, specializing in “Foreign Philology” and “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages”. They received letters of thanks.

“Every year the students of our department test themselves for strength, check their knowledge, skills at the national level. The PSU team can rightly be called one of the strongest. The students worthily coped with all the stages, performed  even the most difficult tasks”, noted the team leader PhD, associated professor Asel Akhmetbekova.
