A commemoration meeting dedicated to the 95th birthday anniversary of the film director, screenwriter, People's Artist of the USSR Leonid Gaidai (1923-1993) was held in the cinema club of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University “Cinema as a historical source”.

Over the years of work, Leonid Gaidai has produced more than twenty works that have become part of the world classics, among which are screen adaption of the classic works of I. Ilf and E. Petrov, M. Bulgakov, M. Zoshchenko and N. Gogol.

During the event the participants reviewed the main films of the director “The Caucasian captive or Shurik’s new adventures”, “Dog Barbos and unusual cross”, “Weather is good on Deribasovskaya or it rains again on Brighton Beach” and others.

The film experts carried out a comparative analysis of films from different epochs (starting from the 1970s), revealing the ideals and goals of the main characters, defining the differences and common features of the films and their interrelation to the time.

The commemoration meeting has become a dialogue of generations. Students were able to express their own opinion about the Soviet cinema and the socialist past by touching the story through the famous movies.
