A roundtable on issues of domestic violence and juvenile delinquency prevention was organized at S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University.

The event was held in terms of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign under the slogan “Happy country-Happy Family!”. 

According to the head of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy, Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor Yelena Burdina, the meeting was aimed at increasing vigilance on violence, teaching violence-resistance skills, raising public awareness about measures of prevention and suppression of violence against women and kids, attracting public attention to the named problem. 

The deputy director of the Center of Socio-Psychological Rehabilitation and Adaptation of Women Kulyaim Nurgaliyeva and the center’s psychologist Zhanna Nedilko, the representative of the Pavlodar Center of Healthy Lifestyle Formation Gulnar Zhussupova, the head of the specialized administrative court registry of Pavlodar Maral Negmetzhanova and a senior inspector of the group for protection of women against violence of the Department of Internal Affairs of Pavlodar, Police Captain Aigul Sarsembekova participated in the work of the roundtable. 

Students of the University, future social workers, carried out corresponding research within the framework of the campaign. Adina Meyramgaliyeva delivered a report on rehabilitation of women being victims of violence, Yevgeniya Puchkova and Shakhnur Iskakova addressed the issue of prevention of violence against leaving fosters of care homes, Aigerim Kazymbetova came forward with an initiative to establish the union of crisis centers of Kazakhstan for women having faced this problem, Tatyana Shuravina carried out research on identifying peculiarities of social problems of women released from prison. 

According to the roundtable’s results, presentation of the best works of participants and an award ceremony were held. 

“Violence is a global problem of mankind, which touches everyone. Many people don’t know who they should address to or are afraid of making the situation worse. In this regard more this problem-solving meetings should be held. Protection of women and kids is a task of prime importance,” said a senior lecturer of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy Galiya Kodekova.
