Students of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University won the Grand Prix in the National Competition of Research Projects for the Zhandanu Alemi Foundation Award within the 2nd National Environmental Youth Forum.
The Forum was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Zhandanu Alemi Foundation (founded by A.N. Nazarbayeva). The Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Leader of the Nation was the general partner of the Forum. This scientific event was attended by scientists and experts from Germany and Finland.
This Forum is held annually for the purpose of implementation of the Concept of Kazakhstan’s Transition to “Green Economy” in the field of environmental education and formation of environmental culture and consciousness of society; involvement of young people in research, practical and social work related to solving topical environmental problems.
Over 1,500 delegates from 32 universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in the second round of the competition and presented their research projects. There were 240 projects in the first round, but only 90 of them were selected for the second round.
Students of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University submitted 2 research projects. Sabina Abdrakhmanova, Kuanysh Zhaksylykov, and Dias Uraz presented their project entitled “Investigation into Local Meteorological Features Using New Methods of Research (Case Study of Pavlodar Region)”. Altynai Dosmadiyarova, Aizada Zinegabidenova, Darya Mulyavka, and Ilya Tsaregorodtsev presented the project entitled “Optimization of Recreational Load and Protection of Bayanaul Lakes”. Aigul Rakisheva, a second-year Master's student, also worked on this project. This group of researchers won the Grand Prix and an award from Zhandanu Alemi Foundation.
According to the project's supervisor Candidate of Geographic Sciences, Professor Antonina Tsaregorodtseva, our team's victory is a clear evidence of the quality of educational services provided by the University. “Our students did a great job, and we are totally satisfied with the results; we were greatly inspired by the support from the administration of PSU,” she said.
All students received certificates of participation. As for the winners, they were awarded the Grand Prix and personal prizes of the National Competition of Research Projects in Ecology.
