S. Toraighyrov PSU held the 7th National Academic Competition in Physics among students of higher education institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Nurlan Yerzhanov, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of S. Toraighyrov PSU, delivered an opening speech. “All of you have already gained recognition at your home institutions and made your first steps in the field of research. Even if your result at this competition is lower than you have expected, you will have an opportunity to improve it in future. This continuous self-improvement is one of the key factors leading to success in the field of science,” he said.

Sh.K. Bibolov, a veteran of the academic olympic movement, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, and N.A. Ispulov, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and Dean of the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technology, also welcomed the participants.

The competition was attended by 9 teams and held in 2 stages: there was a theoretical test and experimental tasks. The results for each stage were drawn up both in individual and team events.

At this competition, just like in March 2014, S. Toraighyrov PSU students (Nikita Lemeshenko, Askhad Artykbayev and Arystan Yergibayev) secured a victory in the team event. Associate Professor of the Department of Physics and Instrumentation, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Talgat Dosanov was the supervisor of our team.

The team of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University showed the best result at the theoretical stage in solving difficult problems in Physics. Arystan Yergibayev won the Grand Prix in the individual event. Askhad Artykbayev finished third.

Teams from Ye.A. Buketov Karaganda State University and Sh. Ualikhanov Kokshetau State University shared the second prize.

All winners and participants received diplomas, certificates and prizes.

The Competition program was rich with cultural events. It was interesting for the guests to learn about the history of Pavlodar State University, see the famous sights of Pavlodar, our museums, and the House of Friendship. They also visited the Center for Youth Services.

Guests from other universities expressed their gratitude for good organization of the event, fair judgment and the atmosphere of a real festival of science.

According to the Dean of the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technology Nurlybek Ispulov, talented students are the future of this country, as all developed countries in the world regard talents searching as a top-priority task. “It has been proved that science exists owing to the work done by teams of scientists, while major discoveries are made by talented individuals. It is our duty to create equal conditions for everyone making sure that gifted students have everything to make the most of their talents,” he said.
