A Scientific and Practical Conference on the Phenomenon of the First President took place at S. Toraighyrov PSU on November 27, 2014. The leading political scientists, historians and academic staff members of the University discussed N.A. Nazarbayev's role in modernization and internationalization of education in the Republic of Kazakhstan and development of our statehood.

In his opening speech, Serik Omirbayev, Rector of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, noted that Nursultan Nazarbayev had a decisive influence on the entire course of independent Kazakhstan's development, having united all Kazakhs behind the national idea of modernizing the country. “It should also be noted that the President mentioned S. Toraighyrov PSU in his Address to the Nation ‘Nurly Zhol, the Way to the Future’. Nursultan Nazarbayev named PSU among 10 basic institutions of higher education responsible for training highly-skilled specialists and building a strong connection between science and economic sectors,” said Serik Omirbayev.

“You are the future intellectual elite of Kazakhstan. Nowadays, knowledge becomes the driving force of progress and the source of new benefits, so your primary mission is to be worthy students. Soon enough, you will take our economy to the new level. You will build and develop our country in the 21st century,” said the Rector.

There was a live broadcast of the Conference in all buildings of the University. Total number of student-participants exceeded 250 people.
