The enrollment ceremony for this year's freshmen entering Bachelor's and Master's degree programs at PSU was held on August 29, 2014.

Nearly two thousand school-leavers from the schools of the city and adjacent areas received an official confirmation of their enrollment in S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University.

The Admissions Board of S. Toraighyrov PSU included the University Rector, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Serik Omirbayev (Chairman of the Board), Vice-rector for Academic Affairs, Doctor of Pedagogic Sciences, Professor Nelli Pfeifer (Deputy Chairman of the Board), Candidate of Pedagogic Sciences, Associate Professor Ayzhan Kuderina (Executive Secretary of the Board), Director of the Department for Academic Affairs Renat Nurgozhin and deans of all faculties (Members of the Board).

In his opening speech, Rector of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State Univeristy Serik Omirbayev congratulated the students on their new status and noted that the enrollment ceremony had already become a good tradition for the University. It is held for the second year in a row. Its aim is to introduce students to the University's academic traditions starting from day one. 'PSU is the place where you have the opportunity to become competitive, successful and in-demand specialists in your respective fields,' said Serik Omirbayev.

The enrollment ceremony was attended by students' parents, honored workers of education and veterans of the University. Aleksandr Krasayev, former member of the Department of Thermal Engineering and Hydraulics at Pavlodar Industrial Institute (former name of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University), was one of them. He is a recognized expert in the field of hydraulics and water supply, HAC associate professor (1974). Speaking to the first year students, among whom was his grandson, Aleksandr Krasayev wished them success in their studies. The veteran's visit is a clear proof of continuity of generations at S. Toraighyrov PSU.

Deans of nine faculties read out the lists of all undergraduate and graduate students enrolled either as state educational grant holders, or on a fee-paying basis.

An important factor contributing to the integration of S. Toraighyrov PSU into the global higher education space is the level of university students' proficiency in foreign languages, i.e. training of multilingual specialists. President Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed that '... for a modern citizen of Kazakhstan, proficiency in three languages is a necessary condition for personal prosperity.' So after the end of the official ceremony, students went through a test in the state and foreign languages. Based on the results of the test, students will be placed in groups according to their proficiency levels.
