The International Scientific and Practical Conference on Ethno-confessional Identification and Priorities of Modern Youth in the Former Soviet Union Countries was held in S. Toraighyrov PSU under the Bilim+ project on April 30, 2014.

The purpose of the Conference is to determine priorities in studying the problems in the field of ethno-confessional identification in the former Soviet Union countries, promoting further modernization of patriotic, spiritual and moral education of youth under the conditions of multi-confessional diversity of the modern world and taking into account the growing global challenges, including the ideological and axiological crisis.

Vice-rector for Development Strategy, Educational and Social Affairs of S. Toraighyrov PSU, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor Arman Akishev noted in his opening speech that the use of the religious potential in moral education of the youth can help them develop the sense of patriotism. “Introduction of the modern youth to the educational potential of humanistic values of traditional religions will help the younger generation be ready for building prosperous future of our country”, said Arman Akishev.

The conference was attended by Aynur Abdirasilkyzy (Advisor to the Chairman of Kazakhstan Agency for Religious Affairs), Aryn Orsariyev (Deputy Akim of Pavlodar region), Yerzhan Rakhimzhanov (Head of the Department of Religious Affairs of Pavlodar region), Pavel Zaytsev (Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Education, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Head of the Department of Theology and World Culture of F.M. Dostoyevsky OmSU), Mukhammad Makhfuz (Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor of Nur-Mubarak Egyptian University of Islamic Culture), Nikolay Belousov (Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Education of I.I. Polzunov AltSTU), Bakhytzhan Satershinov (Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Religious Studies of the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religion, Committee on Science, Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan), Yelena Tikhomirova (Candidate of Culturology, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and History of Culture and Museology of NSPU), Dauren Kusainov (Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Humanities and Social Disciplines of KazNPU named after Abay), faculty deans, heads of departments, academic staff members, undergraduate and graduate students of the University.

The conference program included a plenary part and section sessions. As a result of the discussions, a resolution was adopted. Proceedings of the Conference were published.
