The opening ceremony of the XIV Satpayev Readings, an international conference of scientists, university and school students, was held in S. Toraighyrov PSU on April 11, 2014.
Named after our great fellow-countryman Kanysh Satpayev, the first President of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, this Conference has always been held in Pavlodar region since 2000.
This Сonference has a great educational value for the younger generation: it helps students develop interest in various branches of science, contributes to the spiritual growth of young scientists through exchanging research experiences.
The opening ceremony began with laying flower near the statue of Kanysh Satpayev which is located in the Memory Alley in front of the main building of Pavlodar State University. The honorable mission of laying the flowers was assigned to the Head of the Department of Vocational Education and Environmental Protection, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Professor Kapar Aryngazin, doctoral student of the Department of Automation and Control, Associate Professor of the Department of Electrical Power Engineering Aybek Akayev, Master's degree student of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Natural Sciences Rimma Valiyeva, and student of MS-402 group Sagynysh Nurkimbayev.
Vice-rector for Development Strategy, Educational and Social Affairs of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor Arman Akishev warmly welcomed the young scientists and thanked them for their participation in this event which is very important for the development of science in our region. 'I am deeply convinced that you will be worthy successors to the great deeds of our famous fellow-countryman, you will follow his path - the path of goodness, education and democracy. This is a difficult but noble path, and I wish you good luck and perseverance!', said Arman Akishev.
The Dean of the Faculty of Metallurgy, Machine Building and Transport, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Professor Tyuleugazy Tokilovich Toktaganov also delivered a welcome speech to the Conference participants. He remembered former participants of Satpayev Readings who now continue to work in the field of science.
It is noteworthy that the number and the quality of the Conference participants has been growing from year to year. This year, 1146 research papers were submitted, 239 of them were written by school students, 499 - by university students, and 408 - by young scientists and graduate students. Along with scientists and students of Kazakhstan's universities and schools, the conference was attended by representatives of higher education institutions of the Russian Federation - scientists from Barnaul, Chita, Tomsk, Omsk, Yakutsk and other cities.
Many participants of the Conference take part in such large-scale scientific events for the first time. The tradition of holding International Satpayev Readings contributes to professional development of young scientist, it is a kind of launch pad for further achievements in the field of science.
