Toraighyrov University held an expanded working meeting dedicated to implementing the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, "On Measures to Develop a Reading Culture and Form an Intellectual Nation," as well as launching the national project "Reading Nation".

The central topic of the meeting was the university track of the large-scale nationwide marathon — the "Reading University"  project.

The discussion brought together Board members, heads of structural units, department heads, and leading university scholars. Participants emphasized the strategic importance of fostering a reading culture among both youth and faculty members.

"Our primary goal is not merely participating in the marathon, but cultivating a sustainable intellectual environment where books serve as a key tool for personal and professional growth. Reading will unite our entire community — from first-year students to leading professors and researchers," noted Indira Oralkanova, Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Administrative Activity.

The marathon will run for six months. Throughout this period, participants will explore world and Kazakhstani bestsellers, works on personal development and leadership, as well as specialized academic literature. The project will also feature intellectual quizzes and competitions, with active participants and winners receiving valuable prizes.

In the near future, faculty teams will be formed at Toraighyrov University, mentor teachers appointed, and a dedicated "Reading Nation" information corner established in the library. The "Reading University" project is set to become a vital platform for uniting students and educators around a culture of reading, knowledge sharing, and intellectual growth.
