Toraighyrov University is hosting Professor Hakan Mete Dogan within the framework of the “Visiting Scholars – 2025” program.

 

 

Professor Dogan represents Gaziosmanpaşa University (Türkiye), Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition, GIS and Remote Sensing Unit. His academic and professional interests include agriculture, information technologies, geographic information systems, remote sensing, soil science, environmental monitoring, as well as research activities, nature photography, and documentary production.

 

 

During his stay at the university, Professor Hakan Mete Dogan is engaged with the Faculties of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Sciences. He delivers lectures and practical classes for students focused on the application of GIS technologies in agriculture and forestry, as well as modern research methodologies. Particular emphasis is placed on the use of digital tools and spatial analysis in addressing current environmental and agricultural challenges.

 

 

In collaboration with the university’s faculty members and researchers, the professor is involved in several research projects, including the development and analysis of GIS and remote sensing (RS) data for the Irtysh River basin, soil mapping initiatives, implementation of the Toraighyrov University “Green Campus” project, and ecosystem monitoring. Plans also include organizing joint events such as Ecology Days and GIS Day, with prospects for expanding them to the international level.

 

 

Professor Hakan Mete Dogan is an active member of a number of professional and scientific organizations, including the Chamber of Agricultural Engineers, the Turkish Biologists Association, the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects, and the Association of American Geographers.

 

 

The visit of the international scholar contributes to the expansion of Toraighyrov University’s international cooperation, enhancement of educational program quality, and development of interdisciplinary research in the fields of sustainable development, agriculture, and environmental protection.
