Toraighyrov University held an international round table on the topic "Creating an Accessible Environment for Students with Disabilities: Issues and Experience." The event took place in honor of the 215th anniversary of Louis Braille's birth and the centenary of the tactile script he developed for the blind and visually impaired. The event was organized by the Department of Personal Development and Education.

At ToU, we always proceed from the belief that higher education should be accessible to everyone. We strive for the highest standards in this regard, as is done in every progressive university. Inclusive education should not be limited to technical or methodological aspects only. The university should create an atmosphere where everyone seeking new knowledge is welcomed, noted the university's rector, Yerkin Sadykov.

Among the guests were scholars from the Czech Republic, the Russian Federation, members of the Coordination Council for Inclusive Education in higher and postgraduate education organizations in Kazakhstan, heads of the coordination of employment and social programs in the Pavlodar region, and representatives of the public association "Kazakh Society of the Blind" in the Pavlodar region.

Discussions at the table covered issues of psychological and pedagogical support for students with special educational needs in the university's inclusive educational environment, challenges in creating an educational environment for students with disabilities and limited health capabilities in the university.

Additionally, the ceremonial opening of the inclusive education office took place as part of the implementation of the project by the Department of Personal Development and Education, titled "Psychological and Pedagogical Conditions for the Development of Professional Competencies of University Students with Special Educational Needs" (using the example of the Pavlodar region).

It's worth noting that in Toraighyrov University, all educational buildings and campuses are equipped with ramps, special restrooms, and widened doorways. Building A has an elevator and a vertical lift. Campuses No. 2 and No. 3 have specially equipped rooms for the comfortable accommodation of students with special educational needs. The university also offers professional development courses on inclusive education, aiming to reach 350 university teachers.
